About Double D

Double D is a two-prov group founded by Nannette Deasy and Graceann Dorse, who met while writing and performing for the PITtv house team Simply Elegant. We perform two-prov (improv done by only two people) all over New York City, and any other city that will have us. We like to do long-form improv, especially monoscenes. We also like to create and perform hour-long improv shows that are kind of like plays, but fully improvised. Every performance is always different.

Created for the Scranton Fringe Festival, SCRANTON BUCKETS is an improvised horror/comedy play that tells the story of the old abandoned bucket factory that's being taken over by the online behemoth Piranha. But these buckets carry more than just a third-grader's vomit; they carry the ghostly secrets of the past, making your blood run cold and your skin turn... pail!

REJECTS ANONYMOUS premiered at the 2018 Scranton Fringe Festival. Using prompts from the audience, Double D will bring to life your true stories of rejection and heartbreak, and present them in the setting of a 12-step meeting populated by characters created on the spot. And like any decent self-help meeting, there will be donuts!

In 2021, Double D brought GLAMOUR PUSS to zoom screens across the country. Nannette and Graceann play Cordelia and Cecilia Zimmer, as they scout for their next star client at Glamour Puss, the internet’s leading pet influencer talent agency. In this virtual, interactive, and improvised show, the Zimmer sisters actually hold live auditions with audience members’ pets! GLAMOUR PUSS won several awards at the 2021 Tucson Fringe Festival and 2021 Pittsburgh Fringe Festival. And perhaps more im-paw-tantly, it raised money for animal rescue groups!

Double D also makes films that have screened and won awards at festivals around the country. Check out our work here.
